Reflecting on the nature of blogs and how to read.
As I sat here drinking my coffee I was reminded of one of the reasons why I am not all that inclined to read blogs. It's the format of them. It really bugs me that new posts are at the top of the page. When and indeed if I decide to read a blog, I like to gradually get to know the author of it, slowly and painstakingly experience his or hers life or delusions or whatever the case might be, so as to be able to understand fully what I am reading by having knowledge of names of friends, relatives and pets etc. To be aware of references to past posts and so on. In other words; I would like to be able to read a blog the same way I would read a book, from the beginning to the end (although I have a vague recollection of reading a Martin Amis novel called Time's Arrow in which events where chronologically reversed, but that is beside the point (even though it was quite good, or at least I thought so at the time, I don't remember anything else of it now)).
