Old English and me

I am convinced that this is a font that is under-represented on the world wide web so therefore I will use it extensively from now on. That is not the only reason of course since by that logic there are tons of other fonts I could have used instead that are even less used. I also like it. A lot. The fact that it is somewhat difficult to read makes me appreciate it more as it makes it easier to get away with misspellings and bad grammar. This because the average reader is too lazy to concentrate hard enough to really decipher every word and letter and instead just scans the text. Old English it is called and it really takes be back to my youth. Not that i am that old nor am I English for that matter, but because of it reminds me of movies, computer games and of books first encountered in my youth. Such as Ivanhoe or even any Errol Flynn movie, Defender of the Crown, a great game of yesteryears, or classics from the Niloe Library such as Robin Hood by Howard Pyle if memory serves.

Having said that this post fills no other function than to add more nonsense, ramblings and insignificancies in my preferred font.

Tomorrow is New Years Eve by the way, not only a new year but a new decade to boot. To be celebrated “low key” so to speak. Gone are the years of over indulging oneself with spirits, fireworks et cetera. To be perfectly honest I am not so sure those years are “gone” but rather a case of “never having arrived”. Sure I have used alcohol, and too much of it, at a New years in the past but not in combination with fireworks, something that has never really interested me, nor in combination with et cetera, whatever that might be.

Come to think of it I’m not so sure “celebrating” is very accurate to how I see that particular holiday. Probably more in the lines of saying Good Riddance to the previous year instead of actually welcoming the new year in a celebratory fashion.

Anyway, the “low-key” refers to visiting friends, having some food (hopefully), maybe a cookie or two and playing some board games.
